cPanel: Personalized Website Email
Do you want an e-mail with your website? NAME@yourwebsite.com
This tutorial will bring you through the steps of setting up an e-mail account of your very own! This is a very straight forward tutorial, but I felt I should add this to my cPanel tutorials.
Creating Your Account
1. Log into your cPanel
2. On the Home page, find where it says “Mail”
3. Click Email Accounts
4. Fill in all the variables.
5. Hit “Create Account” and you’re done!
Email Setup
Now that you have your account setup, how will you access this? There are a few choices.
Choice 1: Mail Client Configuration
If you have a desktop email application, this is what you would use this for. You would configure your account to your desktop mail. An example would be Microsoft Outlook®.
Find your account now that it has been created. Under Actions, you will see something like Change Password, Change Quota, Delete, More. Click More. One of the options is to Configure Email Client. Once the page opens, find your application from the list, and you’re done!
Choice 2: Webmail
Find your account now that it has been created. Under Actions, you will see something like Change Password, Change Quota, Delete, More. Click More. One of the options is Webmail.
You will see a few different choices of third party email providers: Horde, RoundCube, and SquirrelMail.
All of them do the same basic functions, and it just comes down to personal preference. I use RoundCube, but this was after experimenting with all three for some time. (I also have a Gmail backup).
To open your e-mail, go your your website and add “webmail” to the end:
www.yoursite.com/webmail/
If you are logged in to your cPanel already, it will bring you to the page with your choice of email providers. Click on which ever you prefer. As long as you have internet access and a browser, you can check your email anywhere in the world.
